Tō Mātou Kaupapa - Our Kaupapa

At Hono Tū, our kaupapa is centred on Tangata Whaikaha Māori and their whānau.

We believe every person holds mana and that disability should never diminish a person's connection to their culture, identity, whakapapa or community. We want to create spaces where Tangata Whaikaha Māori and whānau feel welcomed, understood, connected and valued.

Guided by manaakitanga and whakawhanaungatanga, Hono Tū is building a kaupapa that brings whānau together, strengthens connections and creates opportunities to share knowledge, experiences and resources.

Our kaupapa includes:

Whānau Support
Creating opportunities for whānau to connect, share experiences and support one another.

Cultural Support
Promoting culturally grounded approaches that recognise whakapapa, identity, tikanga and the mana of Tangata Whaikaha Māori.

Education
Sharing knowledge and creating learning opportunities for whānau, communities and organisations.

Community Events
Bringing people together through hui, events and opportunities for whakawhanaungatanga.

Information & Resources
Helping whānau access useful, relevant and accessible information and resources.

Connection & Whakawhanaungatanga
Strengthening relationships between Tangata Whaikaha Māori, whānau, communities and services.

Advocacy
Supporting greater awareness, understanding and recognition of the experiences and aspirations of Tangata Whaikaha Māori and their whānau.

As Hono Tū grows, our kaupapa will continue to be shaped by the voices, experiences and aspirations of the whānau and communities we are here to support.

He kotahi te mana, he mana ngā āhua
One strength, many forms.
