Mō Mātou - About Us

Hono Tū is a kaupapa Māori charitable trust created to support Tangata Whaikaha Māori and their whānau through connection, culture, information and community.

Our kaupapa grew from recognising a gap in culturally grounded spaces and support for Māori within the disability community. We believe Tangata Whaikaha Māori should be supported in ways that recognise the importance of whakapapa, whānau, identity, culture and mana.

At Hono Tū, we are guided by manaakitanga and whakawhanaungatanga. We want to create opportunities for whānau to connect, share experiences, access information and resources, participate in community kaupapa, and feel heard and valued.

As Hono Tū grows, the voices and experiences of Tangata Whaikaha Māori and their whānau will help shape our direction. We want to work alongside whānau and build meaningful relationships with Māori communities, disability organisations and others who share our aspirations for a more connected and inclusive future.

At the heart of Hono Tū is the belief that every person holds mana and that our differences are part of our collective strength.

He kotahi te mana, he mana ngā āhua
